Hill walking

Hillwalking is very popular but all to often its easy to get lost or into a situation you wish you had more experience in. This course will offer simple steps and basic techniques on handling different situations, it can be a glorious summer at the foot of the hill in the UK but depending where you are it can be close to zero and blowing a gale at the top of the hill.

This course will give you basic information on what to take on the hill:

  • Compass
  • Watch
  • First Aid Kit
  • Rucsac
  • Spare Clothing
  • Torch – ideally a head torch
  • Whistle
  • A survival bag – this can double up as your rucsac liner to keep its contents dry
  • Emergency Rations – something high energy like Kendal mint cake or tablet
  • Gaiters – if you’re walking in snow or anticipate crossing boggy terrain.

Thinking of headin out in winter?

  • Extra Warm Layers of Clothes
  • Walking Ice Axe
  • Sun glasses
  • Sun cream – you have just as much chance getting burnt in the snow as in summer!
