Hill walking

Hillwalking is very popular but all to often its easy to get lost or into a situation you wish you had more experience in. This course will offer simple steps and basic techniques on handling different situations, it can be a glorious summer at the foot of the hill in the UK but depending where you are it can be close to zero and blowing a gale at the top of the hill.

This course will give you basic information on what to take on the hill:

  • Compass
  • Watch
  • First Aid Kit
  • Rucsac
  • Spare Clothing
  • Torch – ideally a head torch
  • Whistle
  • A survival bag – this can double up as your rucsac liner to keep its contents dry
  • Emergency Rations – something high energy like Kendal mint cake or tablet
  • Gaiters – if you’re walking in snow or anticipate crossing boggy terrain.

  • Extra Warm Layers of Clothes
  • Walking Ice Axe
  • Sun glasses
  • Sun cream – you have just as much chance getting burnt in the snow as in summer!

Mountaineering covers a wide range of skills, as well as being of the beaten track, away from roads, towns and people, you need to have basic skills in order to navigate your way round, find your climbs, ascend them and get down safely.

This course is aimed at people who are wanting to learn lots of basic skills in order to become self sufficient in the mountains.

It is a three to five day course based in the lake district or N.Wales.

Scrambling is a method of ascending faces but more than often rocky ridges, it is somewhere between hillwalking and climbing and an easy climb can often be described as a hard scramble.

We aim to take people scrambling on some of the best route’s in North Wales and the lake district. A typical scrambling course will last 2 to 3 days.

Scrambling courses include learning to move on steeper ground, basic ropework skills, guidebook interpretation, navigation and much more.

If you are wanting to learn the skills to get out on your own into some of the best area’s of the UK then this is the course fo you.
